WHAT IS VETERINARY DERMATOLOGY?

Veterinary dermatology is the specialty that treats all aspects of skin, ear, and claw diseases in animals. This includes allergies, infections, parasites, autoimmune diseases, hormonal problems, and skin cancers. These specialists have 3-4 years of additional training after veterinary school. They work with your family veterinarian in the same way a specialist physician works with your family doctor.

YOUR APPOINTMENT

Plan at least one hour for your initial appointment. After discussing the details of your pet’s skin problem, Dr. Layne or Dr. Frank will thoroughly examine your pet’s skin and ears and perform standard tests. If additional tests are needed these will be discussed. Prescriptions might be filled at 360 Pet Medical, or you can obtain them from your family veterinarian or an online pharmacy. Follow-up appointments will be discussed prior to the end of your visit. A summary of instructions will be emailed to you and your family veterinarian. After you have established care for your pet you will be able to ask specific questions via email.
